Sandy Hook

I remember Columbine.

It was April of my senior year of high school.

The shooting was announced on the news and I didnt remember anything like that at my high school that day.

The victims of the Columbine shooting were part of my generation.

They had some of the opportunities to grow and live that the children who were murdered last friday never will.

They will never fall in love.

They will never walk across the stage to accept a diploma, they will never know what it is like to have a fulfilling career.

They will never be able to say “I do”, their children are oblitarated from this earth a generation before they would have ever existed.

I cry for them.

I cry for the school administrators and teachers who died protected their students, they are heroes in every sense of the word.

I cry for the families who have to bury their loved ones at the time of year when they should be celebrating.

We must change things in this country.

Every child must learn to respect themselves and others.

We must reform the mental health system.

And we MUST reform the gun laws. We have buried too many Americans because of gun violence.

Hug your children and tell that that no matter what, you still love them.

Thank a teacher, the job they do is one of the hardest and rewardings jobs to have.

RIP
