After work yesterday, I had an errand to run in Union Square. Union Square, for those who don’t know the layout of New York City is only a few short train stops away from Times Square. While it is not as busy as Midtown or Times Square, the neighborhood has a nice mix of homes and shops.
Most of the United States is experiencing a cold streak in the weather. The temperature does not tempt one go to go outside if one does not need to. During the very short time that I was out, I passed four different people, shivering in the cold and begging for spare change.
Seeing these people made me feel very grateful. I may not be a billionaire, nor do I have everything that I would want, but I have a lot to be grateful for. I have a roof over my head, food to fill up my stomach, a good job and a great network of family and friends who support and love me.
I have a lot to be grateful for.
