The Path to Genocide Starts With the Label of Inhumanity

The Holocaust did not start with gas chambers, death camps and mass killings. It started with words. It started with calling Jews inhuman, comparing them with rats.

It’s obvious to anyone with a brain that the American immigration policy is in need for an urgent re-write. You know who does not help when he compares deported immigrants to animals:

“You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals and we’re taking them out of country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before, and because of the weak laws they come in fast… it’s crazy.”

99.9% of those who are seeking asylum are not criminals. They are escaping a life that is defined by poverty, hunger and violence. They should not be defined by a minority who are motivated by violence.

America, as we all as know, is the land of immigrants. Most Americans can say with some level of certainty that someone in their family was born someplace else and then made their way to America at some point in their lives. We should not be criminalizing these people who are escaping from countries where the basics are hard to come by.

From my perspective, this is just another reason as to why you know who should not be President.

P.S. Is anyone else disturbed that you know who lied about his father’s birthplace? I have to question that if he is lying about where his father was born, what else is he not telling the truth about?

  1. In some cases I can understand not knowing where your father was born. But not in his case. His father was a prominent businessman. He was trying to pretend he cared about Germany while at the same time putting them down.

  2. Trump is playing with fire here. He might think he is totally in the right – I don’t think he ever doubts himself for a moment – but this is classic Trump ignorant incompetency.
He is not just making life needlessly difficult for the targets of his hatred, and we already know that he is totally in favour of torture camps in the desert for those he hates, but he is reducing the already limited freedom and security enjoyed by Americans.
It’s not just those he despises on grounds of ethnicity or culture or lifestyle. It’s anybody who dares to criticise him on any subject at all. They go onto his shitlist, and they get got. Fired hours before your pension eligibility? Oh, too bad. Sacked by tweet after rapturous praise days earlier? That’s just another day in this White House.
Anyone. Supreme Court justice, respected journalist, foreign head of state, Nobel Prize winner. Say a word against Trump and you are a target for revenge.
Anyone. A blogger, a political candidate, an activist, a random jogger giving him the finger, a farmer daring to criticise Trump’s chaotic trade policies.
This is classic dictatorship in the land that stood up to fight against evil in World War Two. What of all those who not just gave their lives in the global fight against tyranny, but did so believing that they had no higher duty?
This is Hitler with nukes and a Space Force. This is Hitler with the Gestapo bugging every email, every tweet, every blog.
And this is the first of the great modern democracies, founded and tested in conditions that make every American stand up for their proud history.
Well, perhaps not every American. Some have reason to be bitter and resentful, and they must be worrying where their nation is heading.
    Nowhere good, that’s for sure.

  3. Unfortunately, and I am with you about he who shall remain unnamed, a lot has led up to this time in our history prior to his being in office. A total disintegration of what this country was built on has been in the works for more than one presidency. It is the lack of ethics, and the refusal of the presidents from present to a number of the past ones to stand strongly for our Constitution on which this country was based. Politics has become dirty business. There is likely not a single candidate who can stand up clean and without anything that anyone can use against them.

I wish that this were not true, but it has been a long, long time since we have had a truly moral president who really spoke for and stood up for, by and of the people. Mind you, I am not saying this one does not have any faults, but this did not just come out of nowhere. We all might have seen it coming if we had been watching carefully what each former president did and did not do that was promised to the people of the United States. Some who were well intended perhaps from the beginning, became puppets of stronger forces, and in the end result, there should really be no surprise.

What did we think of what happened in Guantanamo Bay, treating men who had not necessarily been formerly charged, and perhaps some who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, making fun of their spiritual beliefs and degrading them in their practice of attempt to practice those beliefs. They were treated in a totally inhumane way, and it all got excused because of our own beliefs about them. Mind you, I am not saying that some were not guilty, and likely there were, but since when do we ignore international laws of how we will treat prisoners of war?

OK, I am sure everyone gets my point. Once again, I am not in favor of the person either, but this did not start totally here. I think it is common to look at one specific cause for things that happen, but generally there are a number of things leading up to what ends up being a horror. The White Supremacists have ALWAYS been in the background, doing horrible things to anyone who doesn’t meet their standards for what is acceptable in a person’s color or belief system, and so have a lot of others who have nothing but hatred in their hearts and minds. Thank you one and all, and I hope that no one takes offense at this, but it is my truth, and I believe that it is my right to speak it.
