Where the Light Enters: Building a Family, Discovering Myself Book Review

As cliche as it sounds, the saying is true: what does not kill you, makes you stronger.

To say that Dr. Jill Biden has been through a lot is an understatement. Her new book, Where the Light Enters: Building a Family, Discovering Myself, is more than a memoir; it is a story of survival. Born and raised in a traditional two parent household, Dr. Biden dreamed as a girl that she would have it all: a successful career and a thriving marriage. But as we all know, the dreams that we have as a child do not always translate to our reality as adults.

After marrying then Senator, future Vice President and current 2020 Presidential hopeful Joe Biden (D-Delaware), Dr. Biden could have easily stepped into the role of political wife and mother to her husband’s sons via his late first wife. But she chose to balance her career, her marriage, motherhood and later on, politics.

I found this book to be inspiring. In spite of everything that Dr. Biden went through (including the ending of her first marriage and the loss of her stepson to cancer), she found a way to not only survive, but live a full life.

I recommend it.
