I don’t know about anyone else, but when I younger and at a certain age, I took my parents for granted. Now that I am nearly 40, I don’t take anything for granted, especially my parents.
I think we could say the same for Mother Earth. She has given humanity everything we could have ever needed to get by. Instead of thanking her by keeping her for future generations, we are killing her.
Today is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
Today is also another day in the history books of Covid-19. As millions of us shelter in place in our homes, our front line heroes are doing everything they can to save lives.
As this virus ravages the world and takes countless lives, I can’t help but think that is all goes back to Mother Earth. In response to our careless treatment of her, she is giving back to us twice as hard via Covid-19. If you watch the news as much as I do, there are many talking heads and politicians whose focus is to restart the economy. That is all well and good, but if Earth cannot support life, talking about the economy is a waste of time and breath.
It does not help that you know who is doing everything he can do undermine the EPA.
I don’t know where the balance between keeping the economy alive and saving our planet. I’m not an economist nor am I an expert on the environment. But I do know that unless we stop taking Mother Earth for granted, she will continue to give it back to us twice as hard as we give it to her.
