When the Paycheck Protection Program or PPP was enacted a few months ago, its purpose was to help America’s small business owners stay open and financially afloat during the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was not designed to give millions to large corporations whose bottom line would remain unaffected. But someone was not paying attention as to who received the money. According to a news report from this morning, Kanye West was one of the recipients of the PPP.
Now granted, the money was meant to keep his clothing line company going. While I understand that, it seems that the money was given out with little though to who actually need the loan vs. who didn’t need the loan. Who actually needed the funds was the local Mom and Pop stores, not the big companies whose profit margins have a healthy amount of zeroes attached to them.
As I see it, this is just another reason to vote you know who out in November. There was clearly little structure and little planning to ensure that the funds did not go to those who did not need it. Just like every decision this administration has made.
