Learning to lose graciously is part of growing up. Most of us accept that by a certain age, we will have to admit that not everything in life is winnable.
We are several weeks out from the Presidential election. At this point, the results should be old news. The focus should be the peaceful transition from the current administration to the new administration. But, thanks the antics and false claims of voter fraud by you know who, the nation and the world is unable to move forward.
Enter Randy Rainbow’s new video, Don’t Tell Donald He’s NOT RE-ELECTED TODAY! – Randy Rainbow Parody. Using the song Getting Married Today from the musical Company, the video mocks the futile attempts to ignore the voice of the voting public.
What I love about this video is that in addition to the usual delicious satire, there is a feeling of rejoicing. We all know that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election. It’s time to let them do their job and show you know who the door.
The following scenario is one that any parent is all too familiar with:
A parent walks into a toy store with their child. The intention is choose a birthday present for perhaps their child’s friend or classmate. The child sees a toy that they want. The parent tells their child no. That child proceeds to take a tantrum, which garners the attention of both store employees and other customers. The parent has two choices.
Choice #1 is to buy that second toy and stop the tantrum. However, if the parent does this, their child will learn that they can get what they want if they make a spectacle. Choice #2 is that they walk out buying nothing. Outside of the store, the parent makes it clear to their child that such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Unfortunately, this scenario is limited to the parent and their screaming child. It is not a stretch to change the players to adults. In this case, the child taking the tantrum is you know who. The parent is his supporters and yes-people. In a normal year, their appeasement of him would be troubling.
But, as we all know, our present situation is not normal. What those around him should be doing is forcing him to focus on the Covid-19 crisis, instead of blindly agreeing to political spectacle he is making.
There is a reason why Joe Biden was elected. It’s time to honor that choice and move forward. How many more Americans will die before we realize that?
I'm a retiree in his seventies. That may not be significant to many, since there is a bunch of us Baby Boomers around. However, in the year 2,000, when I received a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, I expected to be dead in three to five years.
