The Focus Should be on the Covid Numbers, not Appeasing You Know Who

The following scenario is one that any parent is all too familiar with:

A parent walks into a toy store with their child. The intention is choose a birthday present for perhaps their child’s friend or classmate. The child sees a toy that they want. The parent tells their child no. That child proceeds to take a tantrum, which garners the attention of both store employees and other customers. The parent has two choices.

Choice #1 is to buy that second toy and stop the tantrum. However, if the parent does this, their child will learn that they can get what they want if they make a spectacle. Choice #2 is that they walk out buying nothing. Outside of the store, the parent makes it clear to their child that such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Unfortunately, this scenario is limited to the parent and their screaming child. It is not a stretch to change the players to adults. In this case, the child taking the tantrum is you know who. The parent is his supporters and yes-people. In a normal year, their appeasement of him would be troubling.

But, as we all know, our present situation is not normal. What those around him should be doing is forcing him to focus on the Covid-19 crisis, instead of blindly agreeing to political spectacle he is making.

There is a reason why Joe Biden was elected. It’s time to honor that choice and move forward. How many more Americans will die before we realize that?
