Alvin Bragg Receiving Hate Mail Speaks Volumes

The beauty of a legitimate democracy is the ability to disagree with one another while understanding that the other person has the right to that opinion. However, there is a difference between respectfully disagreeing with someone and threatening them when they have a different perspective.

Last week, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg received death threats for the prosecution of the former President and the allegation that he would be arrested last Tuesday. In response Congressman Jim Jordan sent a letter to DA Bragg, summoning him to D.C. to explain himself. DA Bragg essentially told him to f*ck off.

As usual, the Republicans talk a good game, but as usual, are talking out of both sides of their mouths. They are all for “states’ rights” when it fits their needs. But when it comes to the other side of the aisle, they have no problem with overreach.

Somehow, someway, we need to get them out of office before this country becomes more of a shitshow than it has already become.

Boston Strangler Movie Review

There is something about an unsolved crime that piques our imagination. Regardless of whether one is an average person, a journalist, in law enforcement, etc, it makes us want to put on our detective hats and discover the truth.

The new Hulu film, Boston Strangler, is based on the true story of the serial killer who murdered 13 women in Boston in the early 1960s. Reporters Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley) and Jean Cole (Carrie Coon) start looking into the story when no one else will. Underestimated because they are female and expected to stay in their lane, Loretta and Jean start digging.

Though their editor, Jack Maclaine (Chris Cooper) throw them a bone, hoping to make them go away, he soon learns how tough these women are. Though the challenges in front of them are numerous, they are determined to find the murderer before another woman is found dead.

Part thriller and part feminist tale, it speaks (once more) to the fact that female representation that goes beyond the traditional model is often erased or ignored. Knightley and Coon have amazing on-screen chemistry. Their drive to succeed in a world that would send them back to home is inspiring and badass. Without the work of Cole, McLaughlin, and others of that generation, we would still be tied to the kitchen with our apron strings.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely.

Boston Strangler is available for streaming on Hulu.

Is Anyone Truly Surprised by the Sexism and Antisemitism Coming From Fox News?

It has been said that when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Last week, Abby Grossman, a former producer for Tucker Carlson, claimed that the working environment was toxic due to her gender and faith. Her lawsuit against Fox News stated that sexism was the norm. It also states that Jewish employees who requested time off to practice their faith were mocked.

I don’t know about anyone else, but there is absolutely no shock in this revelation. Anyone with a brain could have predicted this. What matter is how this news is treated by the public. I can hope that the network would be treated like the entertainment/propaganda channel that it is. But I know better.
