Letitia James and Fani Willis may be the Ones Who Save Us From You Know Who

It has been said that where there is smoke, there is fire. If that is true, there has been smoke coming out of a famous NYC building owned by you know who for a very long time.

Earlier this week, New York state Attorney General Letitia “Tish” James announced that she has filed a lawsuit against he who shall not be named, and his three eldest children. In short, it claims that their namesake organization and its leadership have been committing financial fraud as a standard business model for years.

Of course, his response was a racist slur. Which we have learned over the years is par for the course.

In Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has pulled together a grand jury investigation. The purpose is to determine if he and his supporters violated state laws in an effort to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

Starts at 1:15

As pointed out in yesterday’s episode of the podcast The New Abnormal (which starts at 5:19), both James and Willis are African American women. I think it speaks to where this country is going politically. These women understand that if they don’t stand up for what is right and the rule of law, there is a chance that no one will.

The only way to shut down a bully is to beat them at their own game. The former President is a bully. Until it is made crystal clear that he and his cronies are not above the law, they will continue to act with impunity.

The Truth Comes Out (Sort of): Mar-a-Lago Searched and You Know Who Pleads the Fifth

The role of any politician at any level of government is to serve the voting public, not themselves or their career. But for everyone in government who knows who they are indebted to, there are others who believe that they must cater to their donors or their base first.

The major headlines this week around you know who are the following: the FBI searched (and found) boxes of classified documents in Mar-a-Lago that should have gone to the National Archives when he left office. If the rumors are true, some of what was found include nuclear codes that could have fallen into and/or been given to government officials from Saudi Arabia.

Though the complete description of what was taken has not been released, this announcement by itself should be enough to make all Americans ask ourselves if we really want this man as President for another 4 years. The answer should obviously be no. But there are too many who have drunk the Kool-Aid and believe his lies.

On Wednesday, after using multiple bullshit excuses to get out of a scheduled deposition in front of New York Attorney General Tish James, he finally met with the AG and her team. The only answer he gave in the affirmative was his name. For every other question, he responded by pleading the fifth amendment.

What is not surprising about this choice is that it is his usual hypocritical response. In the past, he claimed that only criminals and mobsters used this tactic. But now that it fits his needs, he has decided to use it to his advantage.

He who shall not be named is more than an egotistical used car salesman con artist who has taken this country for a ride. He is dangerous and not unwilling to do anything he can to stay in power and in the headlines.

For the sake our nation and our chldren, I beg and plead with my fellow Americans. D0 not give him the figurative oxygen. Do not allow him to run for office. If we are to move forward, he must become an insignificant fly who can be swatted away for good.

The Martha Mitchell Effect Documentary Review

In every era, there are heroes that are recognized for their bravery. Then there are other heroes who are only acknowledged for their contributions long after that time has passed.

Martha Mitchell is one of those heroes who, unfortunately, is only starting to be seen and respected. The new Netflix documentary, The Martha Mitchell Effect, dropped recently on the streaming channel. In the early 1970s, she was married to John Mitchell, who was then the Attorney General for Richard Nixon. Not exactly known for being the meek and silent type, Martha was quick to blab to the press about her husband’s legally and morally dubious work. Silenced by both Nixon and her husband, she was made to believe that she was crazy.

I wish I had learned about her earlier. When we talk about second-wave feminism icons, Martha Mitchell is a name who rarely comes up. After watching this movie, I felt like she should be given a second look by modern feminists and historians. She dared to take on a corrupt administration and tell the truth when many stayed silent.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely.

The Martha Mitchell Effect is available for streaming on Netflix.

Gaslit Review

The definition of gaslighting is as follows:

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which the abuser attempts to sow self-doubt and confusion in their victim’s mind.

The new Starz series, Gaslit, premiered last Sunday. Set in the 1970s, it follows the events of the Watergate scandal. Martha Mitchell (Julia Roberts) is the outspoken wife of John Mitchell (Sean Penn), who was then the Attorney General under the late President Richard Nixon. Together with John Dean (Dan Stevens), their goal is to ensure that the President is re-elected, even if it means using less than honorable or legal means.

Martha becomes an unlikely hero for democracy as she realizes that her husband is in on the scheme and does everything she can (in her own way of course), to save the nation and her man.

What I am enjoying so far is that the spotlight is not on the usual suspects (i.e men), but on the women whose heroic acts are either ignored or downsized. I also like that Martha is unwilling to stay silent in the face of truth, even if it means opening the door to trouble. The acting is fantastic, the storytelling (so far at least) is easily watchable, and the politics is a reminder that even though it’s been 50-ish years, nothing has changed.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely.

Gaslit airs on Starz on Sunday night at 8PM.

William Barr Forgets Who He Works For

At the end of the day, a civil servant, regardless of their job title, works for the people. We, the American people, pay for their salaries and benefits. For certain jobs, we decide who to hire and/or fire via elections.

Attorney General William Barr has forgotten this. After it was announced that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election, you know who’s campaign not surprisingly claimed that there was voter fraud. There is of course, no hard evidence to prove that the accusations are legitimate.

But that did not stop his allies from stating otherwise. Among them is Attorney General Barr. Using his position, he has directed the DOJ to investigate if these statements hold water.

What bothers me is that Barr has forgotten who he works for. Though he is directly responsible to POTUS, he is not supposed to act as POTUS’s personal lawyer. The job of Attorney General is to be the country’s lawyer. That fact that Barr and many others have either forgotten or have chosen to turn their back on their responsibilities to the American people is at the very least, disturbing.

Politics aside, the reason I voted for the Democratic ticket is that both Biden and Harris understand who they work for. Neither are perfect (no one is), but their personal needs are not number one of the list if priorities. The needs of the nation are and will (hopefully) always be number one.

P.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper was fired yesterday by you know who. I wonder how many heads will roll before January 20th. If I was a betting woman, I would say that his will not be last on the chopping block.

New Randy Rainbow Video-NO RULES FOR DONALD – Randy Rainbow Song Parody

The job of the United States Attorney General is to be the country’s lead attorney. Though he or she is nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate, they are not the personal attorney of the President.

Try telling that to you know who.

Randy Rainbow’s newest video is entitled “NO RULES FOR DONALD – Randy Rainbow Song Parody“.

Set to the Dua Lipa song, New Rules, the song lays out why Attorney General William Barr is as corrupt as his boss. He should be doing what is right for the country. But he is doing what is good for his boss and his bosses’s ability to keep his job.

Just another reason to vote him out out of office in the fall.
