Our Long National Nightmare is Over: Biden & Harris Win the Election

When we all went to bed on Tuesday, we know that the outcome of the election would not come immediately. After several days of constantly watching the news and holding our breath, we have a winner. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be entering the White House as President and Vice President in January. Knowing that we will have the first female Vice President who is also a woman of color speaks to how far this country has come.

It goes without saying, that the response from you know is the adult equivalent of a tantrum.

Tantrum starts at 4:06

Instead of being and adult and accepting that he lost, he will continue to claim that voter fraud conspiracy cost him a second term. If (and I mean a huge if) that was true, there would have been a complete blue wave. Both Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham would lost their respective elections. But they didn’t, which is completely baffling to me.

As much as we can celebrate (and there is a reason to celebrate), there are two caveats. The first is that unfortunately, we have to wait until January before the Biden administration can actually get down to business. The second is that one of their first tasks will be to clean up the mess of the previous administration.

Although we know that there is still a lot of work to do, we can still take in the moment. Normalcy is on the horizon. I don’t know about you, but I am ready to for a boring President and a boring Presidential administration.

HOW WILL YOU VOTE? – A Randy Rainbow Song Parody

In only a short few days, Americans will know who will be leading the country for the next four years. While millions have already made the choice known, others will be going to the polls on Election Day.

Randy Rainbow released his newest video on Friday. Entitled HOW WILL YOU VOTE? – A Randy Rainbow Song Parody, the song is based “That’s How You Know” from the 2007 movie Enchanted.

I loved this video. Over the last week or so, the reminders to vote have come at us in all directions. Though we are told every year that that year’s election is the important, this year’s election is critical. If we do not vote you know who out, the United States as it exists today may not be there tomorrow.

We Need to Talk About Jared Kushner’s “Black Americans” Comment

Looking back on my childhood, I can appreciate the things that my parents did for me. Without their love and support, I would not have the achievements I have today. But, there was one caveat: they were not going to do everything for me. At a certain point, I had to put on my big girl boots and become self- sufficient.

Yesterday, Jared Kushner made the following statement about Black Americans:

“President Trump’s policies are the policies that can help people break out of the problems that they’re complaining about but he can’t help them be successful more than they want to be successful,”

Within Jewish culture, we have a joke: Is something or someone good or bad for the Jews? Kushner is definitely bad for the Jews.

Anti-Semites have never needed a reason to hate us. They will find any excuse to blame us for whatever is going wrong in the world. The problem is that his statement legitimizes their lies and gives an air of truth.

He is also bad for his father-in-law’s Presidential election. The administration claims that they understand the needs of the working man and woman. If they did, this kind of statement would never have left his lips.

This is a privileged family who has never had to worry about where the next paycheck is going to come from or if they will be able to keep a roof over their heads. Their children have been and will be gifted jobs within the family business. They will never know the agony and stress that comes with looking for a job while making due on unemployment checks.

The truth is that we all want success. But success only comes hard work, which comes from opportunities. Kushner’s remark is disparaging, hurtful, elitist and racist. If you know who truly wants another term, they had better start living up to the claims they are making.

Did the White House Just Hand Joe Biden the Election?

When facing a challenge, knowing when to push forward and knowing when you cannot go any further is a decision that sometimes has to be made.

With Covid-19 ravaging the nation, it has become the most important issue within this Presidential election cycle. The assumption would be that both candidates and parties would take the virus and the damages it has caused seriously.

The Democrats and Joe Biden have taken it seriously. The Republicans and you know who seem to think that it is a mere cold. We all remember earlier this year he stepped back from taking responsibility.

When the White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows appeared on CNN, he told Jake Tapper the following:

“We are not going to control the pandemic. We are going to control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics, and other mitigation areas,”

Since March, 225,000 Americans have succumbed to the disease. As of late, Vice President Pence, his wife, and several aids have been exposed to Covid-19. Anyone with a mere shred of intelligence would be listening to the doctors and quarantine themselves. But instead, he goes out on the campaign trail, potentially spreading the virus further.

The question is, has the White House handed Joe Biden the election? Only time will tell, but it is clear to me that this may be the tipping point that brings us back to a state of semi-normalcy.

The Debate on Thursday Did Not Change My Mind

As we get ever close the November 3rd, the question of who wins the election looms ever larger. As early voting has begun, the debate on Thursday was aimed at the voter who has not yet entered the ballot box and/or remains undecided.

I can say that as one who voted today, my mind has not changed. Though you know who made some semi-decent arguments, their power was diminished. Biden owning up to his imperfect past took some of the air out of the accusations. Unlike you know who, he is both willing and able to be a man and admit that in hindsight, some decisions were not wise.

If there was anything that stood out to me, it was the way both candidates spoke. Biden spoke to the camera and to the American people. It was not about him and what he has or has not done. It was about us and what he would do for us as President.

You know who made more than enough “I” statements. If he was not whining about the supposed mistreatment he has received, he boasted about his “accomplishments”.

The one thing that made me laugh was his comment about his “beloved” NYC. Though he left in a huff last year, he now claims that he loves the city.

My hope (and my fervent prayer) is that in January, this country starts on the path to a state of semi-normalcy. That path can only be created when Joe Biden is President.

Have the Republicans Become Rats Jumping From a Sinking Ship?

During any Presidential election season, voters expect that both Democrats and Republicans will stick with and support other members of their party. Some may choose for various reasons, to vote for a candidate from the other party. But, for the most part, we stay with the political party we are affiliated with.

But this Presidential election looks to be different. After four years of supporting and defending you know who, there a number of Republican Senators who are slowly backing away from him.

Are the rats abandoning the sinking ship?

As I see it, this new development tells me exactly who these politicians are. Like the “dear leader” they defended and supported only a short time ago, these men and women are clearly only out for themselves. They care nothing for their constituents who voted them into office.

Now it’s time for them to pay. We will not forget where their priorities and loyalties were placed. In two weeks, we will remind them who holds the cards in this game.

We Should Be Listening to the Scientists

Knowledge is power. So is science.

The question is, do those in power listen to the scientists (and the doctors by extension)? Or do they believe that they know better?

Nearly two weeks ago, you know who held a rally in Nevada. Among the many ludicrous statements he made, one was the following:

“He’ll listen to the scientists,” Trump continued. “If I listened totally to the scientists, we would right now have a country that would be in a massive depression, instead of, we’re like a rocket ship. Take a look at the numbers.”

As usual, he plays with the facts to suit his needs. The county is in a depression not because of Joe Biden, but because of you know who and his administration. To be fair, we have a greater picture of Covid-19 now than we had in March and April. But, that does not mean that the details that were available back then were not credible or important.

I’m sure that if time machines existed, many of us would go back to the beginning of the year and try to warn our past selves about what was to come. But time machines are a work of fiction. We can only move forward and honor the memories of those who have passed.

Honoring those memories includes listening to the experts and saving as many lives as possible. To save those lives, we must vote for a President who will work with the scientists and doctors. Obviously that is not you know who.

Don’t be a Freier, Vote for Joe Biden

P.T. Barnum is supposed to have once said for following:

“There’s a sucker born every minute.”

In Yiddish, the term for sucker is freier. On Thursday, an article in The Jerusalem Post stated that those who believe you know who (especially those of the Jewish faith) are suckers.

I couldn’t agree more with the article. We need a President who sees beyond himself and his needs. We need a President who is compassionate, open and is willing to make tough decisions. We need a President who genuinely believes in reaching across the aisle to those of the opposing party.

That man is Joe Biden.

A Vote For Decency is a Vote For Joe Biden & Kamala Harris

If there is one thing that Americans have lost over the last four years, it is that we have lost a sense of decency.

On Thursday, in lieu of the cancelled Presidential debate, each candidate held a televised town Hall. You know who’s town hall aired on NBC with Savannah Guthrie as moderator. Vice President Joe Biden’s town hall aired on ABC with George Stephanopoulos moderating.

I didn’t watch you know who’s town hall. But I watched enough clips to know that it was not worth watching. Instead of talking about what he would do for the American people if he is re-elected, he once again claimed the spotlight and whined.

One of the questions that was asked of the Vice President, was his stance on the rights of the LGBTQ community. His response is as follows:

This is the type of person I want to be President. Is he perfect? No. But at the very least, he understands that the role of a public servant is to serve the community. It is not intended to be used for personal gain or to fill an emotional hole created by difficult parent.

If I were to list the reasons to vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the number one reason is a vote for decency. If we are to move forward as a nation, we need a President and an administration that represents that sense of decency. That administration will be led by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Is the Attempted Kidnapping of Gov Gretchen Whitmer a Sign of Things to Come?

The 25th Amendment is clear when it comes to the peaceful transfer of power.

However, that does not mean that you know who understands or respects what our founders laid out when it comes to transitioning between Presidential administrations.

When Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that there was a failed plot to kidnap and murder her, she blamed you know who.

The question we have to ask, is this a sign of things to come?

I would argue that it is. As far back as I can remember, the more extremist among us were pushed back to the corners of our society. But you know who has given them the impetus to become more mainstream. When asked at the Presidential debate two weeks ago if he would call out White Supremacist groups, his response was “stand back and stand by”.

Thankfully, the authorities were able to stop the men before they could act on their plan. What bothers me is that things like this do not and should not happen in a thriving democracy. Will there political and social disagreements? Of course. We in the United States hear in the news about political uprisings and underhanded methods of stealing political power. But they happen in other countries. Knowing that it happened within our borders is a chilling message about the direction this country is going in.

You know who claims that he respects this country and everything it represents. He talks a good game, but his money is never his mouth is. We need a President who puts his money where his mouth is. That President is Joe Biden.
