The legend of Hercules has been around for thousands of years. The son of a mortal woman and the king of the G-ds, he has abilities that few have. He also has enemies who would love to take him down for good.
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys aired from 1995-1999. The show starred Kevin Sorbo was the title character and Michael Hurst as his best friend/traveling companion Iolaus. Together, they saved countless humans from vengeful g-ds and creatures that can only be found in the darkest reaches of the imagination.
Back in the day, I was a fan of this program. It was one of those shows that is very (and I mean very in every sense of the word), genre specific. As an action/fantasy program, it was entertaining and opened the door for the genre for the next ten years or so. Would it watch if it was on today? Maybe, but only for nostalgia sake.
Do I recommend it? Yes, sort of (if that makes sense).
If there is one word to define 2020 so far, it is social distancing. As annoying as it is, its the only way to stop the coronavirus.
Randy Rainbow released his newest video this morning, entitled SOCIAL DISTANCE – A Randy Rainbow Song Parody. It is based on the song Go The Distance from the 1997 Disney movie Hercules (1997).
As much as we all know how important social distancing is, it is frustrating. Human beings by nature are social creatures. Staying indoors all day with only limited periods of going outside for only the basics can become emotionally and physically frustrating. We need fresh air, we need exercise and we need to see other people in person, not just on the various screens that we have.
To everyone reading this post, I hope that you are healthy, staying home and keeping busy. We will get through this, but to do so, we need patience and understanding.
The myth of Hercules is one for the ages. The son of Zeus, the king of the gods and Alcmene, a mortal woman, his legendary strength and journey has become a symbol for facing the challenges in our own lives.
In the 2005 miniseries, Hercules, Paul Telfer plays the title role. Accused of killing his sons, he must go on a journey and face a number of obstacles before his name and reputation can be cleared.
Based on the myth of the Labours Of Hercules, the miniseries takes the viewer on a journey as Hercules not only completes his labours, but also grows up along the way.
