Victims Of The Trump Temper Tantrum: Jeff Sessions And Jim Acosta

When one takes the mantle of political leadership, there are certain qualities that we expect this person to have. He or she is expected to be mature, level-headed, thoughtful, introspective and basically act like an adult.

After the results of the 2018 Midterm Elections were announced, you know who took an adult temper tantrum. As a result of this temper tantrum, Jeff Sessions is out of a job and CNN reporter Jim Acosta has lost his White House press credentials.

Since Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, his former boss put on a target on his back. Truth be told, I had a feeling that Jeff Sessions would be fired at some point, it was just a question of when rather than if. That point came last night.

For the most part, you know who has had it out for most media outlets since nearly the beginning of his time in office, if not sooner during the campaign. Jim Acosta was doing what every journalist does, making sure that those in power remember who is truly in charge. But he who shall not be named does not like those who do not kiss his feet and proclaim him to be the G-d he thinks he is.

We have two years until the 2020 Presidential election. In the next two years, I hope this country remembers what it stands for and why it was founded. Otherwise, the America that I know and love may turn into a thing of the past.

Jeff Sessions Finally Grows A Pair

The job of the Attorney General Of The United States is supposed to be an apolitical decision. While he or she is appointed by the President, their job is to enforce the laws of this country. Their job is not to use the justice system to go after the President’s opponents, regardless of whether these opponents are real or just in the mind of the President.

You know who hasn’t gotten that concept through his thick, orange skull.

After months of abuse on Twitter, Jeff Sessions couldn’t take it anymore. His response to you know who is as follows:

Sessions hit back, saying in a rare statement, “While I am Attorney General, the actions of the Department of Justice will not be improperly influenced by political considerations. I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the President’s agenda”.

It’s nice to see that Jeff Sessions finally grew a pair. What you know who has never understood about the role of the President is that he is not just the CEO of America. America is not a private corporation that can be bought and/or sold when changes in business occur.  He is a public servant who is beholden to the country and the voting public. Until he figures that out, he will never be the President that he thinks he is.

I Can Quote The Bible Too, Jeff Sessions

The bible is often used as justification when it comes to defending our actions.

Recently, Attorney General Jeff Sessions quoted the bible to defend the treatment of migrants at our Southern border.

He is not the only one who can pull quotes from the bible.

“The stranger who sojourns with you shall be as a native from among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord, your God.” Leviticus 19:34

The quote that he is so easily referencing was also used to justify slavery in the United States.

There is also, the story of the three unknown men who approached the tent of Abraham and Sarah. Abraham could have sent them away, not knowing who they were or what their motives could have been. But instead, he welcomed these men into his home, treating them as honored guests.

When reporters asked Sarah Huckabee Sanders about this immoral treatment, she also referred to the bible.

I’m not a parent, but the sounds of these young kids crying for their parents absolutely breaks my heart.  I’m not a biblical scholar by any stretch of the imagination, but even I know that there is nothing that states that children of migrants should be separated from their parents in such an egregious manner.

If there is any justice in this world, you know and his minions will pay for what they are doing to these families. Until then, I can only hope that there are enough reasonable minds in Congress to undo this beyond horrible injustice.

Jeff Sessions, You Are Cold

It’s no secret that the current administration is openly hostile to immigrants. The hostility is greater when it comes to immigrants of color escaping persecution and violence in their country of birth.

The latest news in terms of immigration is that Attorney General Jeff Sessions made the following announcement yesterday:

“Generally, claims by aliens pertaining to domestic violence or gang violence perpetrated by non-governmental actors will not qualify for asylum,”

So, basically, according to Jeff Sessions, America is closed to these people. The New Colossus is invalid.

This is not the America I was raised in. This is not the America that I believe in, know and love. This is not the America that welcomed my immigrant ancestors to her shores a little more than a century ago.

This is the America that I am ashamed to call my own.

The Military Transgender Ban-It’s So Beyond Wrong

In the nearly 8 months that Donald Trump has been President, his presidency has been one scandal after another.

The latest is the ban on transgender troops in the military.

I don’t know how low this man can sink (though turning on Jeff Sessions is pretty low), but he may be reaching the bottom.

The military is not for everyone. But those who choose to serve, regardless of whether they are gay, straight, sexually fluid, transgender, etc, we should be thanking them for their service, not banning them from serving. They are potentially giving up their lives to safeguard not only our country, but democracy.

President Trump has no respect for anyone or anything, unless they serve his needs. He flies off the handle, acts more like a ten-year old boy than a 70ish year old man who happens to the President and thinks that Congress will automatically do his bidding. That is not the way a democracy works.

It’s time to get this man out of the oval office before he runs this country, like many of his businesses into the ground.
