What Was the Point of Matt Gaetz on Meet the Press?

As a layperson, I want to believe that the press is doing right by the public. I want to think that they have not become a mouthpiece for “both sides ism” and/or give extremist politicians (on either side) an unnecessary platform. But I know better.

On Sunday, Matt Gaetz was a guest on Meet the Press. Host Kristen Welker did a better job in regards to leveling harder questions and not backing down. But try as she might, it was not good enough in my mind. I would have preferred to not give him air time at all, or push back as hard as she could.

Other than giving him the opportunity to spread his lies, I don’t know what the point of having him on the show was.

The only bright spot of this interview is that Gaetz said the quiet part out loud. He was proud of the chaos he created and the power vacuum that the firing of Kevin McCarthy created.

If we don’t get these f*ckers out of our government, we may not have a government to lean on.

Weapons of Mass Delusion: When the Republican Party Lost Its Mind Book Review

It wasn’t that long ago that politicians on both sides of the aisle understood that compromise was the key to getting the job done. These days, compromise is a dirty word.

Weapons of Mass Delusion: When the Republican Party Lost Its Mind, by Robert Draper, was published last month. In the book, he details the pervasive and planned destruction of American democracy in the name of power. They are names that we know all too well: Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, Kevin McCarthy, etc.

What I find to be disturbing and scary is that this plan is not haphazardly thrown together. These Republicans know exactly what they are doing. They know what to say to rile up their base, they know who to say it to, and they know how to manipulate the facts.

If we are to keep this nation going as it was envisioned by its founders (warts and all), we need to make it clear that what they are doing is wrong and unacceptable. Until then, they will continue to play this game that puts everything we hold dear in danger.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely.

Is Anyone Truly Surprised That You Know Who is Silent on the Matt Gaetz Scandal?

In business, success is sometimes connected to who you know and not your professional or academic background. The same could be said for politics.

The latest brouhaha from Washington D.C. is that Representative Matt Gaetz, one of you know who’s butt kisser’s, is in trouble for paying women and young girls for sex. He is also rumored to have openly and proudly shared images of these women while being the only one to have voted no on the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act  back in 2017. While this is happening, the former President whom this Representative gave so much support to is silent.

Anyone with half a brain would have figured out by now that you know who is only out for number one. If you are of use to him or have some sort of power over him, then he pays attention to you. If neither of those are applicable, you are persona non grata.

Aside from all that, I personally find it disgusting that a man who is nearly 40 years old purposefully goes after girls who if they are not underage, are nearly twenty years his junior. If he wants to pay to have sex with an adult woman, that is his business. But to set his sights on a sixteen or seventeen year old is disgusting and immortal. If these allegations are true, he deserves to be thrown in jail for as many years as the justice system can send him away for. If this is the caliber of politicians that we have in this country, we are properly and fully screwed.
