Is Senator Kennedy Loyal to the US or to Putin?

When one is elected to the Senate, he or she takes the following oath:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

In short, they promise to do everything they can to protect this country and its citizens. These days, I have to wonder if certain members of the government have forgone this oath to protect their careers?

Senator John Kennedy (R-Louisiana) (not to be confused with JFK) was a guest on this morning’s episode of Meet the Press. When pressed by host Chuck Todd about who was responsible for the hacking of the DNC server in 2016, Senator Kennedy accused Ukraine of meddling in the election.

If Senator Kennedy was someone sitting in their basement with an internet connection and too much time on their hands, that would be one thing. But he is a United States Senator who was hired by the voters to represent them. If I lived in the area that he represents, I would wonder if he truly represents me or is looking to save his own skin? I would also wonder if he is loyal to this country or to Putin, who has not been exactly shy about wanting to mess with the United States.

As far as I am concerned, the evidence is clear. Russia played a hand in the results of the 2016 Presidential election. Whether someone else believes that or not is their right. However, this man took an oath to protect this country. By blindly going along with Russia, he is violating that oath.

It’s not up to me to decide if Senator Kennedy will be re-elected. But if I lived in his area, I would think twice about a Senator who supports another country above his own.

Throwback Thursday-Meet The Press (1947-Present)

Politics has always been a polarizing subject. But there is way to come together, if we are willing to listen to the other side.

Meet The Press (1947-Present) is the longest running show on television. Currently hosted by Chuck Todd, Meet The Press airs every Sunday morning on NBC. The purpose of the program to discuss politics and current events while allowing politicians and commentators on both sides of the political aisle to voice their opinion about the news of the day.

If you’re a political and news junkie like I am, Meet The Press is your ideal program. It takes all of the news from the past week and shrinks it down into a format that is digestible. It allows different political views to be heard and discussed in a mature and calm manner, which does not happen very often these days.

I recommend it.

If Truth Isn’t Truth, Then it’s a Lie

Truth in politics has always been fuzzy. But since November of 2016, truth in politics is has become almost unintelligible.

This morning on Meet The Press, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, was interviewed on Meet The Press by host Chuck Todd. When he was questioned about Russia investigation by the special counsel, Mr. Giuliani stated the following:

When you tell me that, you know, he should testify because he’s going to tell the truth and he shouldn’t worry, well, that’s so silly because it’s somebody’s version of the truth. Not the truth,”

If it’s not the truth, it’s a lie. Someone is lying to the American people. A person who is guilty acts one way. A person who is innocent acts another way. I may be biased, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the country is being lied to and those who knew the truth prefer to not speak out solely to save their own skins.

Only time will tell, but I my hope and prayer is that the truth comes out and those are guilty of lying to American people are given their day in court.

Until then, we have Rudy and The Beast, courtesy of Randy Rainbow.
