The Challenge

We have all been told by our parents and other adults, as children, to not judge others because of their ethnicity or familial origins. But as much as we try to be taught otherwise, we often do.

Vanessa Hidary, known as the Hebrew Mamita, asks the question in the video above. Why do we judge others simply based on ethnicity or familial origins?

She asks the audience to not judge her or label her simply because she is a Jewish woman.  She asks the audience to not judge everyone around them because of who they are and where they are from.

We should be proud of who we are and where we come from. I know I am. We are our families. We are our heritage.  But that doesn’t mean we have to act like the world thinks we should act based on this one facet of our lives.

The challenge she places before the audience is to judge the human being as an individual human being, not simply based on who they are and where they are from.

That is the most difficult challenge of them all.
