Throwback Thursday: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

There is a certain predictability to life. We are born, we go through whatever we go through, and we leave this world when we are supposed to.

The 2008 film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, is based on the short story of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Brad Pitt stars as the eponymous Benjamin Button. Born as an old man, he de ages as the decades go by. His story is told by Benjamin’s longtime friend, Daisy (Cate Blanchett) as Hurricane Katrina approaches New Orleans. Abandoned by his birth father after the death of his mother, he is raised by Queenie (Taraji P. Henson).

Wow. This film is amazing. Though Pitt is not my favorite actor, he excels in the title role. Back up by equally dynamic performances By Henson and Blanchett, the story is hypnotizing and entertaining. Kudos have to go to the makeup and special effects teams that were able to make Button’s physical change feel organic and natural.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely.
