Flashback Friday: Planet Earth (2006 to Present)

Our planet is a fascinating thing. It is full of wonders and experiences that are there for the taking if we are paying attention.

Planet Earth is a nature documentary series that originally premiered in 2006 on the BBC in the UK. Within a short period of time, the series started airing around the world. For those of us living on this side of the pond, it is part of the schedule on BBC America.

Hosted by David Attenborough and by Sigourney Weaver when it aired on the Discovery Channel, each episode introduces (or re-introduces) the viewer to a part of the world and its particular natural assets.

I’m not a huge fan of this genre. I normally find it to be boring. What makes this series different is the narration. It makes the story of these creatures come alive and reminds us that the damage that climate change creates is real.

Do I recommend it? Yes.
