Mary & George Series Review

A good parent will do almost anything to help their child. Even if it means walking over a few moral boundaries.

The new Starz series, Mary & George, stars Julianne Moore as Mary Villiers and Nicholas Galitzine as her second son, George Villiers. While their eldest son John (Tom Victor) inherited the bulk of the family fortune (aka primogeniture), Mary had a plan for her younger boy. She plans to get him into the inner circle of James I (Tony Curran). Via seduction of the King, George will raise the profile and financial opportunities for his family.

Only the first episode has been released and so far, I am intrigued. Moore’s Mary is a woman who is driven by power and has her back against the wall. Between the death of her first husband and her marriage to her second husband, she is a woman without rights and income. Her only option is to use George to get what she cannot access directly.

Galitzine’s George is a young man who starts off as moldable to Mary’s vision of the future. Though we don’t know where his arc will go, the trailer reveals that he may not be under her thumb forever. Curran’s King James is still a mystery to the audience. But I have a feeling that the creators of the series will reveal the full persona in due time.

Do I recommend it Yes.

New episodes of Mary & George are released every Friday.

Martial Arts is Good For More Than Exercise

Daily writing prompt
What’s the most fun way to exercise?

There are three reasons to join a martial arts class.

  1. It’s a heck of a workout.
  2. Opportunities for new friendships.
  3. Knowing self-defense is never a bad skill to have.
  4. Hitting a bag is the best way to get rid of stress.
